By the time a Nina Nieves cape makes it to a photo shoot, it has already lived through so many stages.
It begins as an idea - a silhouette, a feeling, a sense of how we imagine a woman moving in it. Then come the fabric selections, fittings, construction details, adjustments, and all the small decisions that determine how a cape drapes, where it falls, and how it feels when you put it on.
There is so much that happens before the finished piece ever reaches you, and most of it is beautifully behind the scenes. That's part of why we love photo shoot days so much. It's the first time we get to see the full vision come together. The cape is no longer just something we designed and refined in the studio. It is moving, catching the light, being styled, and taking on a personality of its own.
We're always close by on set adjusting a belt, fixing the fall of a cape, changing the placement of a collar, or stepping in to make one tiny adjustment that most people would never notice.
For us, those details are not about making everything feel overly perfect. They are about making sure the feeling behind the piece comes through. Sometimes we capture exactly the image we planned. Other times, it's an unexpected movement or a quiet moment between shots that suddenly feels completely right. That discovery is one of our favorite parts of the creative process.
By the time you see the finished photographs, months of ideas, fittings, refinements, and little behind-the-scenes moments have led us there.
We love being able to share a glimpse of that process with you, because creating the collection is only the beginning. The most exciting part is when it finally becomes yours.
