This summer feels especially meaningful. We’re traveling to Italy for my daughter Adele’s 15th birthday - her first time experiencing Rome and the Amalfi Coast. It’s become a true girls trip across generations: my mother, my sister, Adele, and me. While planning the trip, I found myself thinking less about overpacking and more about bringing pieces that feel beautiful, effortless, and memorable.
For Rome, I’m packing lightweight layers that feel polished for long days exploring the city - walking through the Vatican, seeing the Colosseum through Adele’s eyes for the first time, stopping for espresso, and spending afternoons vintage shopping through quiet Roman streets. The Siena Cape feels perfect for that part of the trip. Elegant, refined, and easy to wear from day into evening dinners.
For Praiano, I keep reaching for our pink crochet midi cape. There’s something about the texture and softness of it that feels made for the Amalfi Coast. It’s lightweight enough for warm afternoons but still dramatic enough for sunset dinners overlooking the water.
I already know I’ll be wearing it to Il Pirata Beach Club, during our cooking class in Praiano, layered over simple dresses for dinner, and on our boat day to Capri.
That’s what I love most about traveling with capes in the summer - they instantly elevate even the simplest pieces while still feeling relaxed and effortless.
For me, the best travel wardrobe isn’t about having more. It’s about packing pieces connected to moments you’ll remember forever.
And this trip already feels like one of them.
